Default Cabela's / Bass Pro - "assault weapons"

On my recent trip to Cabela's I was talking to an associate at the gun counter about the disappearance of the S&W FPC, the rapidly dwindling selection of ARs and the very noticeable absence of the $11k .50 BMG rifle that had been on display for months in the gun library. He said that Bass Pro is discontinuing most "assault weapons." He said the company is concerned with it's public image and wants to "play it safe" by distancing itself from these types of guns. Anyone else work for the company or know someone who works there that can offer some additional insight?

No idea, but honestly, it would not be surprising.

im not surprised. the hamburg cabelas is more about clothes and fishing then anything else. i wouldnt be surprised if "assault weapons" is just the start for them, plus their prices are generally crap vs what local shops have.

. This is why I deal with local privately owned gun stores if at all posible. All the larger companies (with few exceptions) have a bullshit agenda

I'd never buy a gun from one of those places. If I want to take a number and wait, I better be getting lunch meat.

In the Cabela's Father's day flyer I just got, there were very few guns on sale. Couple of shotguns, a Henry 22 lever action and 6 pistols. That's it. No ammo on sale at all. 2 lousy pages of gun stuff out of 28. There's 6 pages of clothes.

A friend works the gun counter in del. He told me pretty soon there will be no guns. Del already banned hi-cap mags.
Bass pro is buying them or already has. It will be another dicks. Just don't patronize them, there are tons of mom and pop shops online.
