Always loaded, always holstered unless clearing is necessary.

And rotating carry ammo by shooting a few rounds from each carry mag on range trips always keeps a fresh round in place.

I stoppes clearing rounds at home after the story about the LEO that did that and got shot. Scenario: Cop comes home every night, clears duty weapon, sticks in safe. Wakes up, racks round, sticks previously racked round on top, walks out door. Winds up in firefight, gets shot because *click* instead of bang. Never got past those 2 rounds that were carried between qualifications, and excess handling+oils in fingers, etc is never good.

    I carry chambered.
I do not unload my gun every day.
    I chamber check every morning.
I do not place my carry gun in a safe at night.

At one time,I feared shooting myself in the head when the alarm glock was too close to my phone.

I now move the firearm another 6 inches to one side and have resolved that concern.

I also no longer strap on my holstered gun when I get up to pee because that's happening way too much these nights.

EM. Do you resharpen your knife every day? I would just put the sharp knife somewhere safe and keep the Barlow handy.

Some of you guys scare me.

One thing I hate about HuffPo and pretty much all Wokies, is that they don't debate people who disagree with them, they just mock them and argue Straw Man nonsense.

    Glad that never happens here.

    Always chambered.

OP: Sounds like it may be a lube problem or issue with magazine. From my understanding the cycling of magazines is what causes them to fail. Maybe plan to dispose of magazines once a year if you need to cycle them daily.

Thanks for all the info guys, my chambering/clearing each day had nothing to do with a lack of finger discipline or fear of a round being chambered (as I said I carry with a chambered round, appendix, every day) was just what I always did for some reason, but will no longer be doing

There is a lot of good info on this board and a bit of sarcasm and levity thrown in just because.

Take away what works for you. Leave what doesn't.

Appendix carry is something I've never been comfortable with but carry at my 4 oclock raked forward a bit.
I also ankle carry for certain occasions ( this presentation needs to be practiced a lot) and had pocket carried occasionally in a pockit lockit.

Do what you are comfortable with.
I was once told by a pretty smart man to practice your presentation at minimum 3000 repetitions.

Good luck in the future. Some training classes might be in order if you are so inclined

An alternative might be to just toss out the magazine springs once a year. Wolff springs is one such manufacturer. There are others too.

Sometimes, Phil, they just ignore you. Marginalize you.

This is the first time I’ve seen this happen to any of my rounds in the 10 years of carrying and chambering/clearing each day. From what I found on a google search this can happen from the chambering daily, which is why I’m surprised this is the first I’ve had this happen after doing that for this long, so that leads me to ask do you guys leave your gun chambered 24/7? Do you chamber/clear the round and just rotate the rounds regularly? The round I had this happen to is only about 2 months old
I solved this problem entirely by going to a small revolver. They don't have set back.

Training with speed loaders kinda sorta mitigates the problem of volume.
