With a quality Kydex holster there shouldn't be any concern with carry a round in the chamber as long as you're not using a junk gun. Since the Hellcat RDP was released that was my daily carry always carried with one in the chamber.

After finally finding a Staccato CS last month that has become my new carry choice and I've been carrying it daily for close to a month now. I carry in Condition 1 "cocked and locked", the way it should be carried. Admittedly, before purchasing I was a bit nervous about carrying this way. I watched many videos including the one in the OP prior to purchasing to fully understand the safety features.

I bought a SA Prodigy recently that will be my carry gun if I ever make it to the range to test it out. I will carry it the same as you, but I prefer leather over kydex.

As long as it's form fit to the gun and not a generic holster I'd see no problems with that. I think where people get into trouble is buying a generic one that says it works with a bunch of guns but then you have gaps around the trigger etc. The only leather holster I own is for my S&W .44 Magnum.

I looked at the Prodigy when they dropped last year but thought it was a little large for a carry gun except for maybe fall/winter. Even with my CS I definitely have some minor print issues (Mainly snug t-shirts) compared to my Hellcat RDP even though the size is almost identical, the CS is just wider causing it to stick out a hair bit further.

Here's how snug mine fits in the holster, no worries of snagging the trigger on something.

I use Desantis holsters, so no issue with loose fit. And yes, the Prodigy is fairly large and heavy, especially compared to the subcompacts I usually carry. But I love the 2011 platform so I'll suck it up for now. I'll let you know if I change my mind after carrying it in the Summer.

Jump to ~ 9:47 of vid, for an opinion on carrying with an empty chamber.

Carry five-shot revolver, all chambers empty. Really be safe.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
