I'm a glass half empty person and feel that the potential negatives outweigh the positives so I routinely don't.

I used to think that way.

    I got better.

With my luck, I'd get a failure to feed when I racked the slide.

For all of you folks that think that you can draw, rack, and fire, play this game and see how you do.

In regard to modern semi-autos, I always just assumed everyone was carrying with a round in the chamber. Almost nobody (well few, anyway) is still carrying something like an old S/W model 10 or 13 or some other DA revolver with the pin on the hammer - those of course were typically carried with the hammer down on an empty chamber, but I think most of the more modern revolvers with the transfer setup did away with that.

I was always told shotguns are typically not drop safe but honestly never thought about it in regard to an AR. Good to learn something.

There are valid concerns about both techniques. In 2023, the only people who insist that they are 100% right and everyone who disagrees is 100% stupid, are the tolerant, diverse Progressives, whose sole form of debate is "I can't believe you disagree with me, you bigoted, uneducated, KoolAid-drinking cultist!!"

I'm glad that gun owners are different.

    Mostly.

    Mostly.
Do you mean you are mostly glad, or do you mean gun owners are mostly different?

It's not a difficult concept to comprehend. Either your defensive firearm is ready for its intended purpose or it's not.
