He was convicted of corruption, but the conviction was overturned on a technicality.

He's not on the same page as "law & order". Not even in the same book.

The Feds lack the power to take property without compensation, it's in the Constitution, the "takings" clause.

Further, I'd wager that 99.9999% of all gunshots are lawful target shooting or hunting, meaning that silencers serve the same purpose as car mufflers, or eye protection while welding, or respirators while painting. So he wants the same govt nanny state that fines us for driving without seat belts, to forbid us from reducing harmful sounds so we don't go deaf. Would a rational govt forbid car mufflers 24/7 in a futile attempt to deter drive-by shootings?

No, only a Democrat govt would do that.

And just how many of last year's 20,000 homicides involved silencers? I'd bet close to zero, and if anyone WAS killed with a suppressed weapon, would it have made a difference if they heard the shot that killed them?

That proposed law fails as a taking. It fails as common sense because it prohibits citizens from protecting their hearing. It fails even intermediate scrutiny because it infringes a right without even pretending that it would have a statistically significant impact on public safety or crime.

I have mixed feelings. By far and large it's the left that are getting abortions, preventing more leftists from being born. I'm not in favor of abortion, but we're literally making more leftists by making it more difficult to get an abortion, and increasing our own taxes to pay for their subsidized living.
