Default Illinois Supreme Court upholds state’s sweeping gun ban

Good news for the Pritzker family's large gun business located just over the state line.

The court found that the law does not violate the state constitution’s equal protection clause by creating exemptions for certain trained professionals and for people who owned the now-banned firearms at the time the law took effect in January.

Whether the law violates the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution was not addressed in the ruling because the parties bringing the challenge did not raise that issue directly in their lawsuit before a lower court, the justices wrote.

Effective immediately, Illinois firearm industry members can be targeted with legal action for allegedly contributing to unsafe conditions or advertising to children or for paramilitary activity. The state of Illinois will now be allowed to take legal action against firearms industry players that endanger the public safety and health of our people,” Pritzker said.

The yahoo article didnt clarify... are specific semiautomatics banned on their name alone regardless of features, or is this an "evil feature" limitation?

It's pretty much the standard "assault weapon" ban that includes those dangerous "high capacity" mags, .50 cal, ARs/AKs, guns with "evil features" (e.g. flash hiders, threaded barrels, secondary grips), etc.
