Re: New Hi-Point 3095 in .30 Super Carry
30 super carry is another boutique round that won't catch on, it isn't that much better than other common carry rounds, there are only a few options for firearms chambered in it, all that adds up to big flop but marine55 must own stock in the caliber since he's swinging on its nuts.

Re: New Hi-Point 3095 in .30 Super Carry
Nope, don*t own stock in it. I*ve just sold several of them, lots of the ammo, and my customers have great feedback on them. Going by what real world experience i have. You are correct in that any new caliber is going to be hard to break into the market as long as there is not enough educated people on it.

Re: New Hi-Point 3095 in .30 Super Carry
It doesn't matter how educated you are on a caliber.... if the gun company's don't get together and push a caliber it dies. 6.5 Creedmoor took off because you could get about anything you wanted chambered for it and the ammo was available. 30 remington ar flopped because it took proprietary parts. Remington buckhammer will flop because it's not better than 350 legend that is gaining traction. Unless you plan on reloading for super carry it is a fools bet to get invested in it unless it takes off.

On paper, some loads of 30SC may make less than 20ft/lbs more than 9x19. Some.
Kind of how 155gr .40 is superior to about everything except whole house 10mm in an autoloader... on paper. In practice, it tends to overexpand and not penetrate quite enough. Not to say I wouldn't run it if that's what I had, but it's not enough to make me put away 9x19.
Along that vein, the meat target showed less damage with 30sc vs 9x19.
I'll stick with my prior statement. 30SC probably finishes off .380 to me even more, but it's not attractive enough of a change to pull me off of 9x19.
.380<30SC<9x19... just as I said before, but I will revise that 30SC is quite a bit more powerful than .380, not marginally better as previously stated.

Re: New Hi-Point 3095 in .30 Super Carry
I thought there would be some info in here, but it's just a promo to try to sell the new carbine.
He does talk briefly about the benefits of .30 Super Carry (velocity and added capacity in same size mags as 9mm), but not any true ballistic tests for the carbine, so I'll have to keep looking for that.
And yeah, of the two benefits of .30 SC over 9mm, the Hi Point ignores the capacity benefit by having a 10 round mag.
