Glad to see the classic Pennsyltucky deer rifle back in production. Spendy as can be but looks like Ruger is doing a high quality job with the 336.

A guy I worked with bought one, shot a box thru it, hunted one time and sold it to me for $75. I shot a deer with it a few years back.
Great rifle. $1200 or even 1K? Probly not.

$750 is what the current asking price is for hammered deer camp 336s with "JM" barrel stamps.

No, just two recent gun shows in the middle of Pennswoods territory.

A check of Gun Broker reveals side gate loading Henry's in .30-30 to be listed for a thousand or more. Wood and blued steel are getting harder and harder to come by on a rifle these days. People will pay it.

Tanner's had a scoped 'JM' stamped 336 for $600 a few months ago. I passed on it because there was a kid there looking to buy his first rifle for hunting. Figured he couldn't have picked a better 1st gun.

Looks good. I'll be waiting on the release of a quality 1894 in 357mag.

I paid $1k out the door for my Henry X in 45-70. I would gladly pay another $400 if it came with nice walnut furniture - the plastic "tactical" stock is made out of absolute poop. I wanted the .357 X model for its threaded barrel but had to settle for 45-70 because the .357's sell out before I can get to them. Another think I like about the Marlin is the safety and the solid mag tube. One of the weak points of the Henry is the way the mag tube locks in using detents. I don't trust it to stay put.

Curious. What*s the significance of the *JM* stamp?
