Re: Stripping wood stock for reshape/refinishing…advice?
Fully stripped/scraped and one pass of 120gr paper over it. Really bringing the grain out and opening it up. Still some rough sanding to do in spots then i can hit the whole thing down to 220.
Anyone have any experience using wood hardener before filler then stain? I want to bring the grain out on this as vibrant as possible with the darker stain…

Re: Stripping wood stock for reshape/refinishing…advice?
Damn that looks good!
Update pic. I fudged up already and cut the relief inverse of how i shouls have cut. No big deal, i can fix it during final sanding and contour the leaves to pop better. This was the yellow circled pattern. I’ll do the left and right sides in the red circled one
It looks like shit currently, all the cutting has been done by hand with oversized wood chisels…i need a new dremel asap

Re: Stripping wood stock for reshape/refinishing…advice?
Looks nice but this is something better to have someone else do it. When I first heard about fractal burning I was amazed, and all you need (according to you tube) is an old microwave, some wire, and some duct take. I watched all of the videos but then started reading about all of the people who electrocuted themselves trying it. Apparently with 10,000 volts you just need to screw up and touch the wrong wire and your dead. Definitely don't try this late at night after you had a few.

We use to have a guy up our road that got eaten by sharks..... I still swim in the ocean.....
Edit ..
Its not for everyone.. that being said, don't try it if you think it's not safe. Trust me, I don't want to die that way.

Re: Stripping wood stock for reshape/refinishing…advice?
Just about everyone around here swam in the ocean. Not many made a home made fractal burner. If the same number died that is telling you something.
I love taking things apart and doing DIY stuff like this but I decided not to play with this one. I didn't need hundreds of wood fractals.

Re: Stripping wood stock for reshape/refinishing…advice?
Not derail this, I know what happens when X amount of volts,X amount amps. I also am not saying to go out and do it. I don't sell what I made, don't tell anyone how to make it, or anything. It was something I did to and old stock off a 870...
Now if this was a shtf thread, this thing would shocking..

0000 steel wool to knock down any fibers standing up, then tung oil with coffee filters. The smoothness and shine are unlike anything I've seen before.
