    Yes.
    Well, I mean depends on the caliber.
    9mm and such need a heavier buffer, but yeah, for 5.56 a standard carbine weight buffer and standard carbine spring are what you typically use.

    If you have ever seen a buffer with an H1 or H2 embossed on the face, it lets you know how many of the weights inside have been switched out from plain old steel to tungsten.

    Shove the bcg into the extension until bottomed out. Carrier key should fit a nickel between it and receiver also spring should not be totally collapsed. When bcg is in battery the tail end should keep buffer from touching buffer retaining pin.
