Philadelphia Concealed Carry Amtrack Train Station

Will I legally be able to concealed carry at the 30th St. Amtrack Philadelphia Train Station and in the nearby long term parking area? Are there any metal detectors? I will be pickup some friends who will be arriving on April 14th and bring them back to the Slate Belt.

The last time I was there, there were no metal detectors all the way down onto the train. I am not sure if that has changed, but if you will only be in the parking area and upper station floor waiting for your friends, I believe you will be okay.

You are allowed to check your firearm with Amtrak the same as you can with the airlines. I do not believe you will see any signs telling you not to carry in the station or on the grounds.

if you've not visited or been inside on the main concourse, you should go in and take a peek while you're there. Built in the late 1920's, the station's façade is classical architecture with grand soaring Porte-cochère columns. The interior features a high-ceiling golden art deco design which was a popular motif in that era. It's quite impressive.

It is quite magnificent, unfortunately they remove the mechanical flipboard that showed the trains departures and arrivals. The clackety clack sound that it made was pretty cool.

Aw, that sucks! Yeah, I remember that. I recall it was black with white letters in the rectangular "windows."

I can't answer the legally question, but for what it's worth, on Saturday I took the SEPTA regional rail into 30th St. Station and did not see any metal detectors or security check points. I was not carrying that day because I was going to Drexel for a tour and wasn't sure about their security. Turns out I could have carried without a problem.
