Question Canik Rival-S vs original Rival?

After doing more research, I am not so sure I should wait to find a Rival-S Chrome & just get a Rival & customize it.

Anyone shoot both? Other than the weight and better trigger, what do we get? Not like one cannot upgrade the trigger on the original Rival...

I would go with the Rival-S but it depends on your use. If you're planning on using it for steel challenge or CC then you might want to go with the lighter model. Otherwise I'd go with the heavier Rival-S because I like the weight and the backstrap system that it uses better.

As far as I know, the triggers are identical.

I shoot the SFX and the Rival but haven't purchased the Rival-S (yet). As jthrelf said, i believe the triggers are the same. I put the Freedomsmith trigger on the SFX, but kept the factory trigger on the Rival. Both triggers seem identical and have a 3lb pull with some mods. As far as weight is concerned between the two Rivals, I use the W74 tungsten guide rod and a brass backstrap in the Rival and feel the weight is balanced. And considering the going price around $1,200 for the Rival-S since it's out of stock at most places, a Rival with those mods would be about $750. If you want to add more weight, shoot 147g 9mm also. After all that said, the new Rival-S is sure purdy and I'm restraining myself from buying another Canik.
