Default Got a fine shooting at SGL range

I was sighting in my WASR 10 AK rifle at the state game land range.
I shot 6 rounds at my paper target, slung the AK on my shoulder, then walked down range to change my target. There was noone else at the range.
While walking back to the shooting station, a game commission truck pulls in. The officer steps out and says I was shooting from a non designated shooting station.
The fine is $200 total with fees.
I want to fight this but it'll be a hassle to take a day off my new job.
If I plead guilty, will this affect my LTCF or anything?
I believe this is a summary offense 5 $100-$200 fine.

On what grounds do you want to fight the charge? Do you think the officer was incorrect? Did you point that out at the time?

As far as I understand, you have nothing to worry about as far as your LTCF is concerned.

Im pretty sure it would have to be a misdemeanor (and only certain ones) to have that effect.
    Which range were you at?
I will have to review the SGL regs to see if it is an offense to have a firearm closer to the target than the shooting station. I have been to multiple ranges and have not had that happen to me.

What are the grounds for this alleged offense? Where was your brass laying? If I was the only one at the range, I'd be worried about leaving my gun back at the bench whilst I went downrange to check/retrieve my targets. I'd fight the ticket.

If found guilty, pay them 5.00 a month.

I'd probably be more worried about leaving it at the bench if there were other people there.

That would depend on how many and how they were acting but neither gives me a warm feeling.

There are woods behind the benches at the SGL 109 range in Waterford, near Erie. There have been several rifles stolen while the shooter was downrange changing or cleaning up targets. They run through the woods to a waiting car, and are gone before the owner even knows it was taken, You are most vulnerable if alone.

Says here that the SGL 159 has rifle ranges at 50 and 100 yards and a pistol range at 25 yards. Could he be fining you for shooting a rifle on the pistol range?

The information is in the tables about 2/3 down the page.

At the Erie SGL range, you sure as hell better take your gun downrange with you, especially if you are shooting 100 yd targets. The warden will even tell you that. That wasn't what he was charged with. He must have not been using a bench. Either behind one, or in front of them.
