There are woods behind the benches at the SGL 109 range in Waterford, near Erie. There have been several rifles stolen while the shooter was downrange changing or cleaning up targets. They run through the woods to a waiting car, and are gone before the owner even knows it was taken, You are most vulnerable if alone.

Says here that the SGL 159 has rifle ranges at 50 and 100 yards and a pistol range at 25 yards. Could he be fining you for shooting a rifle on the pistol range?

The information is in the tables about 2/3 down the page.

The general consensus appears to be that the hierarchy of capable/professional law enforcement is NOT topped by the fish cops, who are below prison guards in the rankings, based on reported experiences. My 3 personal encounters with woodland fascists tend to bolster that.

The weird part is that the Pa Legislature keeps trying to give them extra power & authority, beyond what the Constitution allows. I don't know what theory justifies that, other than we have a shitload of hunters in the Commonwealth and a lot of them misbehave.

I'd rather illegally test fire a gun at a random section of woods off the highway, than set up at any gamelands range & abide by the rules to the best of my ability. Perhaps fortunately, most of the SGL ranges within easy drives from NY, NJ & Philly have been permanently shuttered, likely for the same reason that you'd avoid an open-air banana kiosk next to the free-range primate sanctuary.

An acquaintance in rural Jim Thorpe had a house whose back yard bordered on an SGL. He would see hunters back there during scheduled seasons. He bought a new rifle, off season, went back several hundred yards into those woods, set up a temporary target and fired several rounds opposite any houses. He returned home without incident. Well...not exactly.

Several days later a game commission agent knocked on his door to inform him that his shooting violated that SGL's rules and handed him a citation. He walked up to the entrance and read the posted rules. Sure enough, there it was.

Directly across the street is another SGL, which allows shooting. That's where he got the idea to shoot in the woods on his side.

He asked for a hearing, and prevailed.

Ask for a zoom hearing. Blame it on covid, hey they made the rules, now play by them.

Apparently. He was asked if he did the shooting and admitted it in conversation.

One of the many reasons I love Bradford and Sullivan counties. Aside from myself ( ) you can hear shooting pretty much 24/7 every day of the week, everywhere. Maybe I should report it? I think I'd get hysterically laughed at.

Lots of really cheap houses and cabins up here, just saying.
Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords, is no basis for a system of government.

One night back in the 80s the state police showed up at our camp in towonda. We were shooting skeet at 1:30am
Someone had a porno on the tv and the cops heard the moaning and said, sounds like someone in there is having a good time.
We all laughed and said its the tv, they also laughed and said just no more shooting this late, and have fun.
They were really cool about it.

Even on the first Saturday of deer season, or especially then?

TBH, I certainly wouldn't be real happy with 24/7 shooting though. Perhaps you just meant quite frequently and were just making a point.
