    Default PFA Question

So a buddy of mine just found out that his wife lied to a judge to take out a PFA against him. Cops came to his door on Monday to serve the order and confiscated his firearms. On tuesday he was served with divorce papers... This is a friend and I have absolutely no reason to doubt his innocence. So while this all works through the courts (he's working on lawyers now) what can and can't someone do with the PFA?

I get that he can't have access to his guns and can't buy any more, but is he prohibited from even touching another gun? What if I wanted to take him shooting with my guns? I'm really not sure how all that works so thought I'd ask.

I've dealt with a couple pfa situations as an ffl. In both, the subject of the order was given a short time to turn his firearms over to an ffl (me) until the order was sorted out.
One order was upheld and the guns were later sold the other was reversed and eventually returned.

My understanding is that a temporary PFA is issued and a hearing date is set and he is guilty until proven innocent. At the hearing the complaint should be dropped immediately if there is no evidence. I don't know what the percentages are but women doing this is not unheard of when there has been no offense.

Some lawyers tell their client to file a PFA just to gain more leverage.
