AR replacement trigger group recommendations

Buddy of mine has a barely used S&W M&P Sporter II AR and wants to replace the trigger group as it has a really long pull among other issues. He's interested in a new trigger group (not binary) good for 100 yards or less and maybe a 3ish lb pull. Open to suggestions. Thanks.

There are a lot of drop in modules these days. Chip McCormick (CMC) is very popular with a good reputation.

I've used several Rise Armament 140 triggers in several of my AR's and had good luck with them. Nice working and smooth. They also have the option of flat or curved trigger face. You can usually find them on sale for under $100. There are loads of choices.

I’ve had multiple drop ins from LJ’s with bo issues on standard ARs (the troy PAR doesnt count). For under $100 shipped its a steal, and a great single stage trigger.

Currently running a house brand one from Legion Arms that i snagged up at the gun show. Stupid short break, reset is longer but at 2.5lb who cares…

Palmetto State Armory has a great 3.5 drop in trigger for $90. I have one in 3 of my ARs and they have all been great.

I use a TriggerTech Diamond(adjustable, flat shoe), set to either 2 or 2.5 pounds, I think the total travel is around .040*. However, I*d assume the friend wouldn*t be interested in it solely because it*s $300-ish.

TriggerTech does have a slightly cheaper non adjustable model called the Combat, I think it’s 5lbs and I’m pretty sure the travel is under .060”.

I'm not a trigger expert, but I'm happy with the POF drop in trigger I put in one of my pistols.
4.5 lb trigger. Definitely nicer than a milspec. The only "negative" (and this is a personal preference) is the trigger itself is narrower than a mil-spec - I wish it were wider.

You can find them on sale for around $90-$100 - maybe a little less as I haven't followed pricing on them for a while.
AIM surplus has their own version (as do many others), but does not include the anti-walk pins, so you'll end up paying the same, or more.

Rise Armament is another popular drop in trigger for just a bit over $100 depending on model.

If you want a more mil-spec style, ALG Defense ACT trigger is a good one, but it's not a 3lb trigger

The Larue Tactical MBT-2S is considered to be an excellent trigger - especially for the money
It's a 2-stage trigger something like 2 lb, then 2 lb for second stage.

Didn't see any mention os single stage in the OP. The first stage on the g2s is roughly 3lb. Second stage is about 1.5lb iirc
