Ah, I see she was in Puerto Rico, so technically, she was still in the U.S.

Not too bad 31 years ago but if my wife had mental problems and moved to Puerto Rico I wouldn't have been looking that long. And unless he somehow got divorced he will now be having to pay for her in the home. Sometimes it better to have someone gone and missing........

Small world!
I "met" her.
Pretty much anyone who ever walked down a sidewalk in downtown Pittsburgh back in the late 70s-mid 80s had run across her.
I knew her as "The Elevator Lady" as she used to run the elevator (old-school, manual, lever-operated elevator) at the Art Institute, where I was a student after graduating high school in '85. It's been so long now that I'm not 100% sure if she still worked at the Art Institute when I started, or if she had been let go prior.
I DO recall how she would rapidly approach you on the street, ramble off her spiel about God and the world ending (took about 10 seconds), and rush off just as quickly as she had appeared, looking for her next target.
Wow. That's wild.
She was one of my 3 most memorable "big city" experiences in the first few days after arriving in Pittsburgh (at age 18) from my prior life out in the countryside.
1. The first homeless guy that I saw in my life, begging me for money on the city sidewalk - I told him I didn't have anything and he started screaming at the top of his lungs, motherfucking me, as I hurried away, freaked out, and wondering WTF was THAT all about?
2. The obvious hooker who left the doorway she was leaning in, to walk alongside me as I was headed to class. "Hey baby, do you have a girlfriend?" Before I could think of a reply, she says "Do you want one?" LOL!
3. "The crazy lady" who came right up to me on the sidewalk and rambled something about "God" and "the world is going to end".
What the hell did I get myself into??? LOL
Good times though. Sure was a learning experience.
I feel so old now.

"Something must have happened. Somebody got to her because she started on this whole 'the world is going to end' thing,' Robert told The Pittsburgh-Post Gazette.
'She lost her job and started hanging around Downtown. When there was a baseball game going on, when a concert was going on, she'd be telling everybody to go home because the world was going to end in three days.
People on the street who knew her called her 'The Sparrow' because of her slight frame.
In the late 1970s, she was a student at the Continental Dance Studio on Wood Street and a downtown elevator operator at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh."I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
