Wow. An original idea that is destined to fail in the Garden State (and probably most other places). And the previous charge he had did not deter him.

Do federal charges prevent states from pressing charges? I can't see Governor Murphy passing up on an opportunity here.

Was he an Air Marshall or a Federal Marshall? Not sure but there might be a difference. Federal Marshalls I'm guessing are like FBI Agents. When FBI Agents fly with a weapon, they are known to the crew, where they are sitting and are not permitted to be served alcohol while on board. (So says some friends of mine who are/were FBI.) Possibly Air Marshalls do not follow the same protocol as to how they get on the plane and are maybe not known to the crew? But I would be surprised if the crew was not aware of a Federal Air Marshall on board.

Agents screening checked bags found ammunition and a ballistic vest emblazoned with "Deputy Marshal" in one of Clouden's bags, according to the affidavit. They retrieved more of his luggage from the plane and found an AR-15 rifle that "meets the definition of a machine gun," another rifle, a handgun, a taser, a spring-loaded knife, an expandable baton, a "United States Marshal" badge and U.S. marshal credentials with Clouden's name and photo, according to FBI agent Christopher Granato.

“Screening checked bags” is the key. Had the dumbass flown out of Philly and declared the guns in his checked luggage, he would be at the range and drinking pina coladas as we speak…
