    Completely reasonable, albeit illegal in PA. Do you expect the game warden (who always seem to pop up out of nowhere) to see things your way?

    Yes, it's reasonable, and illegal. What about bringing your trusty axe and beheading the poor creature. Might take you a couple swings to get through. Completely inhumane, but I'm guessing more legal than a pistol between the eyes.

    And yes, those game wardens do seem to pop out of nowhere. You think you're alone in the forest, thousands of acres of woodland, you shoot a deer, and that bastard pops out from behind a tree "Watcha got there?"

    Yep, ax would be legal. Some people use a knife to dispatch by shooting the throat.

    Also can be tricky unless you know exactly what you're doing.

    I had to cut the throat of my first deer after I put an arrow through its head, effectively lobotomizing it.

    It was an interesting experience....
