Default 🐟 PA Fish Commission set to stock trout in coming weeks

    ><;> It might still be the dead of winter but that won’t stop the folks at the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) from thinking ahead to springtime and the trout season that goes with it. To that end anglers looking forward to Pennsylvania’s popular trout season have another tool in their toolbox that makes the PFBC’s 2023 adult trout stocking schedule available using the FishBoatPA mobile app and website (Fishandboat.com).

“While many anglers still have their rods and tackle boxes stored away for the winter, the release of our trout stocking schedule is always highly anticipated and is a reminder that spring fishing opportunities are just around the corner,” said Brian Wisner, Director of the PFBC Bureau of Hatcheries.

    Nice. I cant wait.
I hope I can get to help out with the stocking this year.
That reminds me to check the waders for leaks this week.

Hatcheries in the Poconos prepare for trout season

Hatcheries in the Poconos prepare for trout season
Newswatch 16's Amanda Eustice visited a hatchery in the Poconos to see what anglers can expect this season.

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — It won't be long before you'll be able to cast a line and reel in the trout you see at Big Brown Fish Hatchery in Chestnuthill Township.

"It's looking good. We always get excited come mid-February because mid-March we start to stock fish all over the place," said Allen Conklin, the general manager.

Conklin says the hatchery raises about 500,000 to 600,000 brown, brook, rainbow, and golden trout every year to stock private fishing clubs and ponds all over Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut.

I wonder how many of the streams in western PA are royally screwed up due to the PVC burn off in Ohio.

The Steelhead have been on a good run in Erie since late October. Why anyone would wait till April 1st to fish for stocked brownies is beyond me. Take a trip north ya'll....
