    Default Picture Sizing?

So, what's the deal with shrinking pictures and how do I make them stay the size at which they're posted?

This annoying unnatural phenomena only seems to manifest @ POOFA

    Nothing that I post is > 1MB...

It happens to me with both Safari and Firefox.

I thought this was supposed to be fixed.

Is there some sort of forum or browser setting that affects this?

If there's a solution I missed, can it be made a sticky?

I have the same problem. I do not have this issue on any other forum I've ever used.

I took the suggestion of using postimages.org (https://postimages.org), which helps - but sometimes it still happens.

    It's ridiculous.

    Yep.

This is the only site I have this problem with.

Don't need an extra step for anywhere else

    Never needed postimages anywhere.

Be nice if someone would be bothered to fix this...

Save the images to a real computer, use Microsoft Paint (Win 7 and 10) to resize pictures. 1024x768 will make pics around 200Kb to 500Kb in file size.

Most cell cam are high mega-pixel, which means high file size.

On a landscaping forum, I can snap a pic with my phone, open a thread, click the insert picture icon, select the pic I just took on my phone, click "post", and in 3 seconds, there's my photo in my post - all without dicking around with... anything.

I'm guessing this forum is using 1950s software in comparison.

    What EM says.

I got a special image sizing app for my phone, just for posting on this forum. Even when using that, or using the phone's built in resize function - no real luck.

Once you get used to instant posting of photos, it feels like a chore to post them here.

As much as I DO post a lot of pics here, there are more and more instances where I don't because of the multiple steps involved - even when it's something I really would like to share.

I have the same non technical oriented people at my forum so in every Section as a sticky I have the instructions for resizing images to upload as attachments because most forum software do not have automatic resizing as op has indicated and most forums have an attachment size limit because we have to pay for that space not the member. For windows machines you can download the free windows app https://apps.microsoft.com/store/det...hl=en-us&gl=us If you you have Apple products they have a built in resizing app in their image software.

The best solution is upload to Post Images and get the link and post to thread using the easy to use image posting option. Post images has a tool to resize the image as it's uploaded so you don't get to the free space maximum. I got quite tired of the complaining and put up the instructions so if you don't follow the instructions you can go somewhere else because I don't make any money off people being members or posting images, I pay for it.

I always post from my computer, never from phone.

Don't think I've ever even accessed this site from a phone.

I always resize and trim my pix, I'll make sure that they are < 1MB but they usually are

I retired with ~25 years in system & network administration/infosec management so I'm not exactly "non technical oriented".

Haven't needed to use a photo host site for at least a decade. MS Windows either, for that matter...

As others have said, this site is not displaying pictures properly and it is the only one that I visit regularly that is behaving this way...

FWIW, mine are showing at the proper size right after posting, but when I go elsewhere and then return they shrink to thumbnail size.
