For me, large targets are for one of two purposes...for initial sight-in, large target so I can see where I'm hitting. Some large targets are comprised of multiple smaller targets, as seen above. Otherwise, I just need a dot to focus on and I have a scope to save the downrange walks. Hitting on, above or below the bullseye for a given distance is going to depend on the ballistics of your round. If your ballistics show that you should be 1" high at 100 yds, then that's what you adjust for.

Sorry to threadcrap, but can anyone recommend a decent spotting scope that won't break the bank? The one I have is shit.

Only need to see out to 100 yards.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

I got me a decent Redfield off of fleabay pretty cheap. It shows some wear but I feel fine tossing it into my optics bag when I go shooting. Right now it's on top of the nuke looking towards the treeline about 300yds out, where the deer hang out. I just looked though, and for some reason pickin's look a little slim. Maybe I was looking in the wrong department though.

Paper plates from dollar-and-a-quarter tree. And a sharpie of your favorite color.

    100 plates and a sharpie: $2.62
Shooting without stopping every 5 min: priceless

I just see a lot of larger targets people use but maybe they are rich lol as I don't want to sped $1 per target so to speak.

For handgun I'm out to 25 yards.
Check these out, it's what I typically use for shooting - https://www.ruralking.com/catalog/product/view/id/28625

I mainly use these for handguns but you could easily use for longer range too. The ones I get also have a person silhouette on the other side, not sure if that's an older picture on their website.

Normally I shoot about 50 rounds into each bullseye target then I've still got 8 of the box style targets for precision groups. I can generally get quite a lot out of one target and if I'm running low with it being thicker cardboard it's simple to use some tape and put a paper target over the base target too.

BTW, our PA house reps have them that they'll give you if you go to their office and ask.

Yep, one of my buddies turned me onto that and I was in Mark Gillen's office a while back and got some for myself. They even have his name typed on them.
