Arrow Why I chose it 32 snubby instead of 357

My grandson works in down town Pittsburgh and he stopped by the other evening telling me how bad it is. He said they have one guy who hides in different spots and the waits until you're 10 feet away, then he jumps out in front of you with a machete raised over his head. If there women he tells them to empty their purses on the sidewalk and if it's a man he has to empty his wallet, then tell them to scram. Now I look at this two ways, first there's a druggie with a death wish. Second, he is well in range of my snubby and if he came any closer, and I used a bigger bullet it would rip right through him, and kill an innocent person two blocks away. I would like to hear your opinions.
PS, the morning news reported that the police captured him last night.

I can't imagine getting away with that for very long. Tons of cops downtown.

I'd use an 1896 H&R bicycle gun in .22 Short to eliminate any risk of collateral damage.

With the correct .357 magnum or 38 special self defense hollow point ammunition, your scenario of over penetration would be a non issue.

    This.

135gr 38+P short barrel Gold Dots. And the 4th rule.

Not saying a few .32s won't drop someone, but not as reliably as a 38

To be honest...when faced with a machete at 10'...my LAST concern is overpenetration. I want the guy incapacitated NOW!!!

"HE" may be 10' away. The tip of the machete is only 6' away, and that's too friggen close.

I sometimes carry a .32 when I need "deep concealment". Like trying not to scare the old ladies at church. Don't plan to use it unless the bad guy is pretty close, and if attacked I plan to shoot them in the face. Probably a .22 or .22 Mag would do just as well.
