Re: Why I chose it 32 snubby instead of 357
To be honest...when faced with a machete at 10'...my LAST concern is overpenetration. I want the guy incapacitated NOW!!!
"HE" may be 10' away. The tip of the machete is only 6' away, and that's too friggen close.Sed ego sum homo indomitus

Re: Why I chose it 32 snubby instead of 357
I sometimes carry a .32 when I need "deep concealment". Like trying not to scare the old ladies at church. Don't plan to use it unless the bad guy is pretty close, and if attacked I plan to shoot them in the face. Probably a .22 or .22 Mag would do just as well.

In all seriousness, I really do hope this machete guy gets his head blown off. The world would be a better place without him.

Re: Why I chose it 32 snubby instead of 357
If all you have is a .32 then carry that .32 because it's better than not having a .32. For me though the least caliber I'll carry is .38+P because the thresh hold for hollow point expansion is close to border line and anything slower than that is inconsistent at best.

Re: Why I chose it 32 snubby instead of 357
This is for the "get a real gun, get a .38 or greater crowd." There are .32 snubbies and then there are .32 snubbies. Also depends what load is in them. For instance, the Ruger LCRX is a .327 Federal magnum, but can have anything from a .32 S&W short to a .32 H&R magnum in it as well as the designated .327 Federal. With the Ruger, you have something that holds 6 rounds vs. the 5-round J frames, is a bit smaller and lighter than most of the .38 snubby crowd, in the higher loadings has probably close to the equivalent punch of the .38 special with a bit more recoil manageability for those who may have arthritic wrists. Remember that the .32 S&W long/Colt Police Special was one of the first standard LEO rounds. When Teddy Roosevelt was NYC Police Commissioner, he standardized the department on that round; so the .32 revolver does have a street combat history.
