Can you carry AR15 on your vehicle if you got LTCF?

I have been reading the concealed carry PA law on different forums and am confused now. Please help. Let me narrow it down. Does PA LTCF apply to an AR 15 with 16.1” barrel at all? Sounds to me like you can carry AR 15 straight from point A to point B, e.g. range, in the trunk with ammo in a separate container - regardless of LTCF status. If you have LTCF, can you legally stop at McDonalds on your way to range?

In short, yes. Get the LTCF; it just makes everything easier.

Bad info, John_Wick. The LTCF does not apply to an AR-15 with a 16.1" barrel, because it does not meet the definition of firearm. It is a long arm. You cannot carry a loaded long arm in a vehicle under any circumstances. You may transport an unloaded long arm in your vehicle anywhere in the state, without regard to stops for food, gas, etc., or where it is stored in the vehicle.

Needing an LTCF to carry a loaded long arm during a SOE still does not allow one to carry or transport a loaded long arm in a vehicle. Bottom line is, you may not carry a loaded long arm in a vehicle for any reason, with or without an LTCF.

Thanks. How about carrying an unloaded long rifle/AR 15 in the vehicle? Are you still subject to non stop drive to your destination?
