Can you carry AR15 on your vehicle if you got LTCF?

Thread title had me thinking about a AR-15 turret on the hood or roof of a vehicle, and the question of does a LTCF allow for this

Also worth noting, since we're specifically addressing loaded vs unloaded AR's of 16" barrel or more, is it still legal to transport loaded magazines in " a separate compartment"...even if that compartment is a pocket on a gun case containing the unloaded rifle itself? And is it correct that it doesn't have to be a locked compartment? Seems to be a detail that caught my eye some time back. Still referring to PA transport, not interstate.

Bad info, John_Wick. The LTCF does not apply to an AR-15 with a 16.1" barrel, because it does not meet the definition of firearm. It is a long arm. You cannot carry a loaded long arm in a vehicle under any circumstances. You may transport an unloaded long arm in your vehicle anywhere in the state, without regard to stops for food, gas, etc., or where it is stored in the vehicle.

Neither of the posts before yours said anything about it being loaded.

EM is right. That is absolutely a "PA thing" too, if one is not licensed. It is one of the very narrow exceptions for legal unlicensed carry "in a vehicle". And no, "unloaded with gun and ammo locked up" does not make you legal to ride around within PA as you please, if you are not licensed.
