64 basically first full year and quite a bit interesting to most folks in the 60s,
This one is in the 51K serial range, The paperwork with the rifle and scope were really a good score,
Lots of interesting items in Pittsburgh, Not many in Phila, Have to run out to bucks county for some good finds,
Im guessing that ill be testing it at Pitcairn gun club one day soon,
At least its been used as if it were 100% pristine, Ive never shoot it,
And in case you're wondering, Its getting a good temp controlled home with lots of its friends and siblings, Its no where near the oldest Colt in the house,

Nice find! I have an SP1 that just turned 49, love the old musket. i do not take it out much but shooting 16"carbines for some time now its amazing how much smoother and kinder it is to shoot, and puts the brass in a nice, neat pile just to your 4 O'clock instead of launching it over the firing line into the next county

I dont want to be politically correct but, what did that thing cost you, and was it a good price?
I had two, but the oldest was in the 70s, and both were sold for under a grand each.
I would like to get another one one day, but for now , just testing the waters.

LOL! Yeah* he can select to fire it any time he wishes* now that he*s purchased one!

To OP: Glad your happy with your purchase. It looks clean! I*m no collector though. Honestly, even if I preferred the look of the A1 style rifles, (which I don*t), I*d just build a replica-clone with many Colt parts. It would cost less & shoot better. But I get it man* all shut scratching that itch! We all have our particular vices.

Yep I get it, Can build one that looks how you want it to look,
I have an addiction to 100% factory vintage fire arms, They need to be 100% correct for me, More paperwork and boxes the better, And yes I even have a A1 Repro thats very well made, BUT when compared to this REAL THING, Well there is no real comparison other than they look alike, Most of what I own is vintage and original, Even the old Colt 1911s from the teens, Yes I can build one of them, It will shoot better and have better metelergy and will be able to shoot +p ammo, But when I handle a 100+ year old firearm thats 100% original, I get a thrill,,, Yep I have an addiction, I admit it...

And at the end of the day it*s just another franken gun worth nothing.
    Today was a good day!

Buying a vintage firearm can truly be a wise investment,
Its remarkable what my 38 Luger, 66 PPk and early 1911s would sell for these days,
I recently picked up a Walther P38 from 1967 which was NIB with all tools, Test target and instructions,
    Its was quite a find.

Absolutely, I*m no collector, had a few SP1*s over the years, knowing what I know now wish I had kept them. That*s a great find.
    Today was a good day!
