Who has access to the Sales database?
Been having discussions with several people lately and the topic of "registration" of handguns comes up. And I always state that the state police cannot keep a registry, but what they have is a sales database, and it is far from complete.
However, the question is who has access to this database and can an officer in the field check to see who this particular firearm was last sold to? I know they can run a check to see if a particular firearm is reported stolen, but can they check if you are the "registered owner".Drew Bingaman Chair Susquehanna Valley Libertarian Party

Re: Who has access to the Sales database?
I call into County (County 911) and they run whatever it is they run and I get the info that way.

The idea of registration comes largely from the media, I believe. On the news, whenever there is a self defense shooting, the question is always asked, "Is the weapon registered?". They need to do a little research.
