I don't think there's an official recipe. It's a handed down family thing.

Maybe you had the version with coal dust in it.

And what do you do with the fruit? Seems like a lot to throw away.

And I though I knew of every bourbon too so tell me about Four Roses. I don't remember ever seeing that brand.
The whiskey is Four Queens, not Four Roses. I never heard of it either.

The article said roses but you are right. The video had four queens and it sounds like some scary rock gut stuff. Ten dollars for a bottle of some kind of New Jersey "whisky" that is 101 proof? My head hurts just thinking about it.

If it comes from the coal region it has alcohol in it... We used to describe a lot of those towns as having either a bar or a church on every corner and it was not far from true.

I always knew Bolio as a Skook thing, rather than an overall regional thing though.

With the current forecast, it might be time to make some...

I know nothing about Boilo but it is obvious the girl in the video didn't know what she was doing. From what I read its supposed to be very strong and not cooked fruit with a little alcohol. And using a dozen cinnamon sticks in anything is ridiculous.

This seems like a better recipe and the article talks about its Lithuanian roots. TYhe addition of caraway sounds unique and I might be temped to make a small batch.

Must be. I think Skooks have damaged taste buds from inhaling all that coal dust.

I got an Italian hoagie at the Wawa by Cabela's when I worked over there.

I usually check my drive through orders, but I don't usually unwrap my hoagie in the store to make sure it's right.

It had the correct order receipt taped to it, but it was not an Italian hoagie. It was tunafish with pickles, peppers, and yellow mustard.

There is no doubt in my mind that it was ordered by a Skook.
