Default You think you're safe in the suburbs?

From the city, police said Austin drove to Delaware County. Around 1 a.m. Monday in Middletown Township, police said he shot at least one person in a townhouse in Franklin Station, a newer development of properties off of Baltimore Pike. The neighborhood is located between Wawa headquarters and the Pennsylvania State Police Media barracks. Police did not release the victim’s exact condition. About an hour later, Austin stopped at an Exxon gas station on South High Street in West Goshen, Chester County. Police said he demanded money from the employee and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

You've probably been reading the local news here too, haven't you? Seen all the shootings around in the past couple of weeks? It's getting scary out here.

Criminals have cars. They can travel. No where is safe. But I feel considerably safer when my front door isn't the first line of defense.

It's pretty safe in this suburb. I haven't heard about any shootings or carjackings. Although the one attempted carjacking in the East Norriton/Plymouth Meeting area isn't too far away.

A couple years ago on a path that I ride on all the time a young teen girl was grabbed, dragged into the wood, raped then stabbed. I forgot to thank our township assholes for allowing the high density section 8 housing that they allowed to be built nearby.

Yeah, not good. That's a new development of Toll Bros. $500k carriage houses and town homes on the site of the old Franklin Mint. I'm not too far from there.

A buddy of mine just bought a townhouse there to *downsize** 800k****

At least an event like this in the burbs still makes the news.. if it happened in N Philly, it wouldn*t even be the worst thing that happened that day..

A guy carjacks a car, drives it to a housing development in the burbs and shoots someone sure sounds like drug dealers settling accounts. Yeah, robberies and shootings can happen anywhere, but you really lower your exposure by living in a decent neighborhood and not associating with criminals.

8 years ago when I lived in Monroe county in a very rural area and a friend of mine had a home invasion by a meth-head neighbor on a Sunday afternoon

killed him and his stepson and dog. his wife barely made it out the back door.

my daughter in laws mom lived a few doors down.
