Default Looking for drill press to use

Hello! I have a 1881 Vetterli and am doing a centerfire conversion. I need to drill a .07-.08 inch hole into the center of the bolt face. I don’t have a drill press and before I go buy one I was wondering if someone was willing to lend a hand?

Philadelphia Area, will compensate for the assistance.

Do you have the bit, and some extras? Cause a bit that small, you're gonna break it.

I have a press that will definitely do it, we'll probably have to drill it slow, I can get this one turned back pretty far in RPMs.

If you have the skills, I can assure you that I have the equipment. I have a compact lathe with a mini-mill on it and an array of vises and mounts to hold your stuff. Plus bits and a drill bit sharpener, should you break a bit. With the proper skills, there should be no excuse for broken bits. Just don't be telling everyone about my messy shop.

Bolt faces are usually pretty hard. You should probably spot the hole with a carbide center drill.

Skills? Maybe. Not sure the process of operating a lathe. But we can certainly discuss.

I don't know about using the lathe to do that but I'm open to learning. I'm thinking to get it chocked in straight vertically and use to mill head to drill it.
