    Default FFL called me back

Apparently the FFL checked with state police and they want a pistol form filed.

I'm a bit concerned now though. It's classified as an "other firearm" as near as I can tell. It's not a shotgun because no stock, it's not a rifle or pistol because it's smooth bore. FFL and I are on the same page on that, and that's as per federal law. But PA law apparently it has changed somehow because the barrel is less than 18".

4473 is off and away. But what if the state police suddenly decide I have an unregistered SBS?

This is the gun in question: https://palmettostatearmory.com/rock...ack-vrf14.html

Shockwave barrels are less than 18.

    Firearm Information
    50. Does this purchase involve a pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, a shotgun with a barrel length of less than 18 inches, a rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or a firearm with an overall length of less than 26 inches?
He checked yes for this. Make RIA model VFR14, length of barrel 14"

IIRC most PA FFL's do handgun forms for these. I forget the exact reasoning but its for the same reason it can legally be carried if you have a carry license

He's not a normal FFL, just a gunsmith that received these for me, so he wasn't sure. I'm not sure either, i'd like to stay within the law. I just don't want them kicking down my door thinking i have illegal nfa items without tax stamps.

My bet is because the state police want them to and they don*t care about the consumer, they just want to avoid hassles with the police.
