Second form of ID at Walmart
I wanted to get a .22 rifle on Sunday, and when I got to the counter and pulled out my ID, the guy said I would need a second form with my current license on it. He said a utility bill or my current car insurance would do. I asked my the second form was needed and he said it's how they do things. I decline to purchase the rifle and left. This was the supercenter on rt 248. Has anyone else encountered this?

Re: Second form of ID at Walmart
I bought a 10/22 from walmart years ago. They had the same policy. I showed my dl anf my ltcf. They didn't know what to make of the ltcf. The took it as the second form.
But they had to carry the rifle out the door.troll Free. It's all in your mind.

Re: Second form of ID at Walmart
Second form of ID! What a joke. Isn't a DL good enough? My second form of ID would have been the middle appendage then out the door!

Second form of ID required by BATFE for some persons ...
If this isnt W/M policy, it may be that the salesperson is confused regarding another BATFE requirement.
I am at a disadvantage as I lack the time at the moment for the research / citation, but I am fairly certain that Resident Aliens must show 90+ days continuous residency via utility bills or similar.
There are also additional reqirements for Non-Resident Aliens (example: a foreigner travels to visit the US to participate in target shooting, or purchases a hunting license here and wishes to purchase a hunting rifle rather than borrow one from a guide or relative).
Sorry I cannot be more specific, but perhaps this explains the misunderstanding ...

Did you by any chance have any duplicates of your DL made?
I've experienced a lot of places (mostly bars when I was in college) that required a second form of ID if you have DUPS noted on your DL.

Re: Second form of ID at Walmart
This sounds like another case of the need to contact Wally world corporate and ask them for clarification. There is no need to ask for a second form of id in most instances and if they have decided that this is a corporate policy we should know and then let them know how we feel about it.

Was the guys name Glenn? Older gentleman. Kinda short. Wears glasses?
Whats with the sign over the display case at Wally World that says if you have an ID from any of the green states you can buy a rifle? I dont think there is a residence proof requirement. My stepdad has never had to use 2 forms of ID. Thats just weird.
