Not always. I have bought 2 guns from Bass Pro. Specifically this Bass Pro.

Both were because they were the cheapest seller I could find. And that was before the military discount.

Agree, I know my prices and have found some steals there but the wait is annoying!

Seems decent.
$12.74 at Wamart. Same Chinese cans. Tractor Supply as well @ $15.
Harbor Freight wants $18.

I prefer actual surplus cans. I trust them to seal.
I think I paid $8-$10 for some 50 cal cans last year at a local place. Very light rust. Some had dings.

The can man, he*s local, always has nice surplus ones, recently bought 10 50 cal cans for 10.00 each and all were in great shape, just needed wiped off.
