Did he tag the deer? Anyway, on private property, why would anyone assume they could keep a trophy deer that they didn't shoot. Even if they did shoot it, couldn't they still be charged?

First I happy the kid got his deer back. Second this guy is nothing but a scum bag and I hope he loses his hunting license for a long time.

Son had a deer taken, in a different manner. Deer was crossing field son was watching. Son shot the deer. Deer ran 40 yards, as is often the case. 2nd shot rang out, from another hunter, who claimed his shot dropped the deer, son's shot had not, ergo his deer.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
