    Default Poofa seed exchange?

Which of Yinz save seeds from / for the garden?

I'm into a heritage seed mindset.
Part of that maniac prepper / boy scout / cheapskate mentality.

I grew a new to me squash this year: Hopi Grey.

They are huge squash and i just tried one this morning and it tastes great.

Simple to grow - i did no weeding until late in the summer and they did GREAT.

    Anyone want seeds?

I also have a bunch of heritage corn seeds and some heritage beans.

Lemmee know and i Will be happy to share.

I grow some heirloom tomatoes. As the story goes, my grandfather brought them over from Italy about 100 years ago. They grow well, and make fantastic sauce. We canned about 100 quarts this year. I*d send some your way in exchange if interested. I also have some purple corn that is also an heirloom seed. PM if interested.

What do you do with the purple corn? Is it popcorn or is it eatin' corn?

Had bad garden experience this year, probably going to plants instead of seed.

Don’t have any heritage seeds to swap at this point but did find what seems like a good source to buy some. Good selection and prompt friendly service.

If any of yinz wants herrlitage (non GMO) corn seeds I gots a lot of them

The corn name is Seneca sunrise and it's a corn that tastes more like cornmeal but it's still kind of sweet.

I was also able to propagate some very sweet corn from stuff that I had bought at a roadside stand and I should have a bunch of those seeds saved out in a few days. I will call that variety Opa's sweeties.

I've also got some big beans and some radish seeds if any of you guys want them

A few years ago Mrs EM started saving seeds from tomato plants that we really liked. (we always try to find one or two new varieties to try out)

She just scrapes some seeds onto a napkin sized piece of paper towel, spreads them around a little, and writes the name of the tomato on it, setting it aside to dry.
In spring, if the individual seed won't easily fall off, just tear around it and plant it with the paper towel stuck to it and plant it in the starter pot with the paper towel stuck on it - won't hurt anything.

I've read about all the various methods that involve rinsing, allowing a mold to form, blah blah blah, but simply putting them on the paper towel and leaving them dry that way seems to be working just fine.
