Ammo Shipping & Security
Anyone else concerned about ammo being shipped through the UPS/FedEx warehouses? One of my friends who worked there told me several years ago that the mopes working there take note of who's getting high-end electronics and what not (labels on box, box size, weight, etc). He did not specifically mention ammo. However, even when overboxed, the diamond sign or sticker is a giveaway. I'm not worried about the ammo itself (I always buy insurance), I'm worried about leaving a trail of bread crumbs. My house is pretty secure, but nothing is impenetrable. I haven't bought ammo in months because I'm worried about this crap. Last week's break-in at Target World confirms my fears that the mopes are coming out of the city to steal guns.
If you are concerned, what do you do about it?
Can you have the shipment delivered directly to a local UPS or FedEx store? I've never tried. Is there a fee for this? I had a non-ammo package that I wasn't informed beforehand that needed a signature, and UPS raped me $9 or $10 to have it rerouted to the local UPS store. I'd rather avoid that, for the money issue, and also I don't know at what point the new sticker is placed over my home address. Defeats the purpose if the mopes at the closest hub are putting the rerouting sticker on over my home address.

I've had cases of ammo delivered to my house for 28 years.

Tons of people get ammo shipped. The chances of you being singled out are slim.
I'd focus on your home's layers of security instead of what types of packages you receive (not being condescending, completely serious).

Re: Ammo Shipping & Security
Most of my ammo is locked up in metal storage cabinets. Plus the usual: interior lights on at night, outdoor motion lights, full security system, solid exterior doors with deadbolts, windows locked, etc.

Re: Ammo Shipping & Security
I am trying to wrap my head around the notion of someone saying "This guy has thousands of rounds of ammo in his house where he can legally kill us repeatedly for breaking in....let's rob him!"
But then again.... no one ever accused criminals of being smart.

Re: Ammo Shipping & Security
I have had 10's of thousands of rounds of ammo shipped to my house. I love watching fedex or ups do the slow walk up the driveway carrying an obnoxiously heavy box to my doorstep. Sometimes they break out a hand truck and wheel it up if it's more than 3000 rounds.
