pa state senate is still republican. the house is not finalized yet and there are 2 races left to determine the control. in the 142nd race the republican is now up 114 votes. in the 151st the republican is now up 12 votes

It appears the 151 has taken the lead and if it holds the PA house will be Democrat controlled. My question, are there any sane western PA democrats that could offset this ?

That’s the million dollar question. Are there any not rabidly anti-gun Democrats who could potentially impede passing of an AWB, UBC, mag ban…I sincerely hope so. But I’m not holding my breath. That’s to be expected when you nominate third rate candidates for the top of the ticket who didn’t even win more than 50% of the vote count in their primaries. And then overturn Roe and seriously motivate the zombies to turn out in full force. Such a depressing result.

It seems to me that there ought to be a concerted effort (in the Republican Party) to find out WHY their registered voters did not vote? Convincing more of the registered Republicans to vote seems like a better approach than a Republican effort to look more like Democrats.

In the current environment, there is no way that enough Democrats will be converted to Republicans to make a difference in the outcome of elections. People are deeply entrenched in their choices and won't be convinced otherwise.

To win, there must be MORE registered Republicans getting out to vote for the Republican candidates (or against the Democrat candidates). Surveying non-voting Republicans, to determine what WILL motivate them to vote, is more pressing NOW than ever.

Maximizing our GOP turnout and grabbing a larger share of the unaffiliated is the only way we’re gonna win. We can’t make up the deficit with GOP votes alone.

It’s down to provisionals, military and unverified ballots. The incumbent Republican needs 75% of the remaining votes in order to hold onto the seat.

So it looks like the Dems will take the House.

But in a possible bright spot in this:

The new session will be sworn in on Jan 3, with the vote held same day for the new Speaker. Due to several reasons (a Dem member being sworn in to US Congress same day, the new Lt Gov vacating his House seat, an open dem seat due to death) the Republicans will have a majority in attendance for voting that day.
