    For around $500 you can hire a locksmith to crack a gun safe. One hole in the side, they stick a probe inside and open it, and can give you the combination afterwards.

    Much better option than destroying a $2K safe. Not so great for a $200 Walmart safe.

    Thank you. I sunk about $250 into it with the new lock, sheetrock, and other supplies. The pistol rack was extra, but it all worked out. On the plus side, I sold my 8 gun StackOn cabinet and smaller fireproof SentrySafe to make up most of the money on the supplies.

    I'm not sure who opened it or why the all of the internals were gone. I just know the woman who sold it to me said it belonged to her late brother and they opened it up after he passed. I think this particular safe was $650 or $700 new. Not top of the line, but better than what I had.
