this is why its not a SBS. I have a komrad 12 that is the same way. a virgin receiver that never had a stock and overall length of 26" makes it a firearm

There is a an NFA loophole or sorts where a shotgun can have a shorter barrel if it doesn't have an overall length under 26".

Not a loophole, it is using the wording of the laws to make a legal product. A laws intent is not the enforceable law

An SBS is a Firearm made from a Shotgun. A shotgun is a smoothbore gun with a shoulder stock.

If it has never had a shoulder stock it can never be a SBS.

AOW's on the other hand include smoothbore pistols. And under the law, there is no set maximum length for AOW's - despite the ATF saying 26" OAL.

Sooner or later the ATF will hire someone that can read, which will likely with them reverting their determination on these types of guns. Those of us with them will have to register them as AOW's, destroy them, or convert them.

Im tempted to make my shockwave into an SBS and duplicate the serbu super shorty. My friend has one so I can copy the build fairly easily.

Not just that but shotguns exist under a "sporting purpose" exemption keeping them from being destructive devices since the bore is over 1/2".
