People are dying to move in there.

Similar incident happened in the cultural capital of Reading a few years back. Gunfire erupted at a sidewalk vigil for a 'shooting victim.'

Initial shooting can just be the bait for the real shooting.

It's not the ghetto by any means, but like many areas of the city, I doubt it's "as you remember" any more.

My assessment was based solely on the fact that the shooting took place at a funeral service.
    I mean who DOES that?

Funeral homes offering group rates now?

I know a midwife that if she births 12 of your babies, the 13th is free.

Grew up around there. Church is at Brighton and Benton which was the corner wear all the bad kids hung out. When you left the house your parents always said "don't be hanging out at Brighton and Benton, that's where the bad kids hang out." Of course, back the bad kids were the ones that smoke, wore black leather jackets and spit on the sidewalk. Times have changed and so has Brighton Heights.

It was a great neighborhood back then. Still has nice areas and homes and people are putting money into fixing up some of the older homes but in general it's deteriorated beyond being attractive. It's big selling point was always being an easy commute into downtown, now who wants to go downtown?

I looked it up on one of those "rate this area" websites and they were gushing at the fact that the percentage of same sex couples in the area was so high.
Maybe it was a gay-based website though. I just laughed and clicked "back".
