    Default $2000

Suppose you wanted to blow $2k on a high quality hammer fired 1911 or 2011 style pistol. It would rarely be carried in lieu of a plastic fantastic just for practicality reasons. It would be used for occasional competitions and a fair amount of range blasting. Mostly it would be to admire fine craftsmanship.

    The options are:

    1) Les Baer Custom Carry 5" 45ACP for $2350 OTD
    2) Dan Wesson Valor 5" 45ACP for $1800 OTD
    3) Staccato P Duo for $2400 less 10% discount + tax

What are you picking and why?

Conway was the man! I heard he sold more albums than Slim Whitman, who sold more than Zamfir and the Beetles. Combined!

But my vote for a $2000 1911 would buy two $1000 1911's or a $1300 1911 and a $700 old school S&W revolver or a fill in the blank. If you are a top competitive shooter buy a 1911 race gun but it will probably cost you more.

While it may not be hammer fired, the H&K Mark 23 would be about the only single handgun that I would be willing to spend that kind of money on.

You beat me to it , the MK 23 is the only answer in that price range. and if you do not mind the correction it is hammer fired as are all the HK's based on the USP genre. which is why I love my USP and FN FNX. They can be carried cocked and locked 1911 style or DA safety on or off, if you are the type that dislikes safety's on handguns (GLOCK guys) you can simply ignore it and carry hammer down safety off
