Default CCW question: Moved in the city...do I need a new permit?

I know what you guys are going to say...."just call them and ask"..

But I wanted to know if anyone in Philly with a CCW has moved within the city limits. My permit has my old address and I wanted to know if you had to just call them to update the information or go through the hoops all over again for a new permit?

Its good till 2012 so no rush. I already carry an updated drivers license card (the little yellow one) with my new address.

Dont want to say for sure... BUT... I live in Hazleton and moved since my original LTCF.... Had to renew this year... and was told that as long as your DL had the new address that the LTCF was LEGAL....

Again the best bet would be to contact local authorities to verify this....

    GL in Philly....

There is nothing in the law about changing your address on your LTCF and you should be fine without updating it. But some sheriffs apparently will change it for you, others say don't worry about it...according to previous posts here.

But, being Philly...it's hard to say. Be best to call and ask, that way you'll know for sure what they require...they seem to make up some of their own rules in regard to firearms

imho, i would definitely not call to ask. given how anti-gun the PPD is, they may well give you BS info. they may well tell you you have to reapply.

    but, you do not.

state law is what it is...and there is nothing that says anything about an LTCF no longer being good just because you move.

if it were me, i would just keep on keepin' on.

bucks county told me to call them if i move so they can update my info. i would call the sheriff that issued your ltcf and ask them to update your information. then when you renew, you renew in your new county in your case phily) bucks won't issue a new card when you change addresses, but will update it in their computers. I askeds this when getting my ltcf, because i might move in the next 5 years (i hope i'm 24 today and still lwm)
my goal: to get every good person in the philly region responsibly armed.

For as anti-gun as philly is, it sounds like our process is a lot more organized and professional than say, montco...

No worries just update you drivers license. When it comes time for a LTCF renewal, just have to do it in the current county you live.

And you are basing this statment on???? The process to obtain a LTCF in Montco is very straightforward and is pretty much hassle free as it can be.

    1. Go to Sheriff's office and pick up forms
    2. Drop local police check card off at your local police station
    3. Pick up check card in less than a week
    4. Take card back to the Sheriff's office and in 10 minutes you walk out with your LTCF

Yea...sounds very unorganized to me. Maybe they should make it more organized and quicker by dispensing the LTCF permit through a vending machine.
