Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: UPS and FED EX new rules
To get this shit show back on topic - I have tried to ship a gun recently. The gunsmith in question used Fedex and only Fedex so it had to go from an FFL to them, an FFL. I called four local places and was told anywhere from $110 to $150 for this "service." I know damn well it's not costing the FFL that much. I know how much the label will cost. The extra $85-130 is just padding their wallet. Oh and they all required a transfer on the return shipment and THREE out of the four wanted a fucking transfer fee to boot!
I said fuck it and cancelled the service, ordered the parts, and had them installed by a local smith instead.F*#K THE ATF

Re: UPS and FED EX new rules
My most recent experience with FedEx went surprisingly well. Delivered was a .22 Glock conversion...barrel, slide et cetera, requiring an adult signature.
I had to go out the day of delivery and as I wrote above, their website was impossible to use to alter their delivery plan. I had engaged a next door neighbor to do the signature and was just writing the instruction to post in the door glass when the deliverer arrived. The "signature" consisted of his writing my birth date on his paperwork.
FedEx's toughened gun regs, like most orgs, make no sense. They try to look like they are "doing something about guns" while engaging in distributions of related products. There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
