I have an aversion to basic rifles. Thank you Marine Corps.

I really do like the longer sight radius also. It's the only one I have that doesn't wear some kind of optic. I think they suffered from a bad rap since the originals made from cut down rifles were known to have issues do to the gas system. More modern ones like mine use a mid length gas block with a second front sight block, solving the problem.

Nah* I like the AR for it*s performance. And I*m not a *collector*, so I have no use for vintage anything. When the whole *Build* community started, after the *94 AWB expired in 2004 new parts were coming out almost daily it seemed. In 2006 while most were still using plastics, I was running 12* 4 rail free floats (this was before 15* was even a thing!). And while almost everyone was still running A2 flashhiders, I was using the 5C2 Phantom flashhiders on several builds. (If you*ve been building AR*s for over 10 years, you used one!) So no.. no basic, obsolete components for me.

Although I do appreciate other*s fondness for vintage, original, antique, etc. Same with cars. I was never an *old muscle car* guy. I preferred fuel injection, Power adders (mostly Turbochargers), and computer base trim tuning. I knew how to set up a carburetor sure.., but they were obsolete to me. Still, I appreciate restored older cars by others.

It*s funny because this guy thinks he*s the only one that owned an AR before 2012. This is going of topic in my own thread but here goes anyway.

Back in 2004 I modified my LMT 14.5* M4, the lower is a LMT LE marked and the upper a LMT 14.5*. I bought a 12* Daniel Defense rail, cut the A2 FSB down and trimmed to fit under it and had a phantom FH pin and welded.

So you see he*s not as innovative as he believes he is. Here*s some pics of it to prove a point.
