    Default ⚠️ Pennsylvania Turnpike to close for more than two days

    🛠 The Pennsylvania Turnpike will be closed for a 55-hour period starting on Oct. 14 between the Lehigh Valley and Mahoning Valley interchanges on the turnpike’s Northeastern Extension (I-476).

    According to a Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission news release, this stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike will close at 4 a.m. on Oct. 14, and remain closed in both directions until Oct. 17.

    Demolition of the current bridge, which was built in 1957, and construction of a new steel superstructure require the more than two-day closure, said the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

    What could go wrong with demolition and construction of a new bridge in 2 days.

    Isn't that the stretch that goes through the tunnels? The Seabees could do that trick but not the PA TPK.

    Yes. They are shutting down the NE extension over the weekend during Pa's peak leaf season.

    Yea....I know. But a lot of people like to go camping in the Fall when there are no bugs and its not too cold. Its not easy getting camping reservations at the popular places for the next month so a lot of people are thinking the same. From SE Pa most people take the turnpike to get to the mountains and a lot of people will be pissed this weekend when they see the backup and the delays.
