    Historical

Anyone remember the tale of Sam Collington?
PROSPECT PARK, Pa. - The fight to Save Our Streets hits close to home for one family whose son was killed blocks from Temple University’s freshmen dorms. His parents, and former schools, are doing everything they can to keep his memory alive. Molly and Dennis Collington never imagined they would spend so much of their time at Philadelphia’s Criminal Justice Center.
"We want justice for Sam, that’s the only thing that will give us any type of peace ever, is justice for Sam," says Molly.

Online, Douglas Leake described his friend Sam Collington as a "devout Marxist" who "would not want his death to be used to push any sort of right-wing pro-police agenda such as stop and frisk." "We must not let this travesty spawn oppression of any kind," Leake wrote. "I will never stop defending his legacy of radical justice, peace and equality."

Police say Grant (D’Agostino), a transfer student at Temple, was riding his skateboard in the 1500 block of Jefferson Street and headed to breakfast. That’s when a car passed him. Four young men got out, knocked him to the ground and beat him. They took his cell phone and fled right past a surveillance camera on that corner.

Days after Temple's police union reported that it's facing a staffing crisis that has impacted campus safety, university officials announced a number of safety enhancements in response to a spate of recent shootings. Temple University's police union this week said they are operating at 60% normal capacity and officers have had to work roughly 42 overtime shifts since last summer. On Monday, the union said on its Facebook page that it "cannot perform adequate community policing techniques that we have done in the past to reduce crime in the community."

The father of a Temple University sophomore who was beaten by a roving teen mob last week said people *should draw their own conclusions* about whether the string of attacks against students and cops was racially motivated. Joe Lauletta, 50, wrote on Facebook a day after the flash mob-style attacks that a group of 30 to 40 *black teenagers* assaulted his daughter, Christina, 19, and her two male friends on their way home from a Temple football game at Lincoln Financial Field on Friday.

An 18-year-old man was fatally shot by armed robbers while walking with his girlfriend near Temple University's North Philadelphia campus, police say. Police identify the victim as Ahmir Jones. It happened around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday on the 1700 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue.
Police say, two men, at least one of whom was armed, approached the couple on the sidewalk and announced a robbery. "They put both the male and female against the wall. They went through their pockets. They took the female's cellphone. And according to the female, for no reason, they fired a shot striking this 18-year-old victim in the chest," Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

A 15-year-old girl has been arrested Tuesday and is expected to be charged with aggravated assault for allegedly hitting a 19-year-old Temple University student in the face with the brick, nearly knocking her teeth out. That alleged assault took place on Friday evening, police said. Four other teens, a 17-year-old, two 15-year-olds and a 14-year-old, have also been taken into custody related to the assault. Detectives say these teens may also be arrested soon

I was going to say that's what happens when you put a university in the middle of a s***hole, but I guess we need to know which came first, the university or the s***hole? I think the latter.

About two weeks ago a Temple Graduate was shot and killed near Drexels Campus. He was enrolling in a Masters Degree there. Video shows the suspect and him walking past each other, when without provocation, the suspect, described as a black male, turns and shoots him dead.

In subsequent articles his family (from Malvern I believe) talks about how proud he was to be involved with the Democrat Party.

Not yet. His face was covered. At first it was thought as an attempted robbery. But found video shows how it was a cold blooded, unprovoked killing.
