    Default Re: MKE AP5-P review

The MKEs are not without potential problems, but at most it seems like replacing $100 worth of German drop in parts gets them running (ejector, extractor, springs to both).

Also hot off the press as far as I know, it's been discovered that the K model SB tactical folding brace has a design defect that the hammer strut actually hits part of the brace during cycling. Taking a Dremel to the brace solves this and people with issues with their K model (P or M) have been getting them solved by eliminating this issue. Maybe the MKE issues have been few and far between and many have actually been SB Tactical issues.

Also a hot load and running wet is essential for good reliability during break in.

Anyway - I haven't shot or handled a Stribog... But I'd go Mp5 they're just cooler and PCCs are mostly second cool now... Home and civil defense I think a rifle platform isn't possible to beat with 9mm for those roles.

Correct I*ve seen where some had issues and are easily fixed with the parts you mentioned. I bought two factory HK extractor springs and a HK extractor for spares. So far so good but it*s good to have the spare parts anyway.

Aren't you the one who's fishing for a 93? I saw one in the classifieds the last day or two.

Yeah kinda got the roller bug. But not enough to spend HK prices. The one listed has seen better days and is at $4k OBO.

MKE is said to be importing their 93 early next year. Will wait to see what happens there.

There was some buzz about that for a bit, but no new info yet. I hope so. I hope for a 93/33k imported as a pistol.

Form 1 came back in 28 days. Now just to add a vertical grip and it will be complete. Took it to the range today and fired a couple hundred more rnds, zero issues so far.

After a few parts changed out for HK parts, my AP5-P has been 100% suppressed or unsuppressed with about 2k rnds of 115, 124 and 147 grn both fmj and HP. This has become one of my favorite guns I’ve ever owned, along with a HK SP5. Updated pic.

    Today was a good day!

    What parts specifically? Learning...

The Atlantic optics mount is garbage, looking for something worthwhile at good price point; picked up a rcm 80deg locking piece for 147gr and magpul safety selector for length...

Extractor spring, extractor and ejector with genuine HK parts, problem will be solved.

I bought the Ap5 and the Ap5-p, and they've both been 100% flawless. With 10 mags, still less than a SP5.
