You can always swap credit cards with your friends every week. Then the card companies will have no idea who is buying what.

guns are already deemed high risk by most payment processors and banks. There is a thread recently that someone was rejected by several bank's while trying to open a business account with firearms in the name.

    Was wondering about reloading supplies.
Got an email from RMR, Rocky Mountain Reloading, about it.
    Part of their response:
"So, to alleviate your fears a little, RMR uses the "Sporting Goods" merchant code. Also, I figure that with how well our Nuke expands, if they ever ask me to change our merchant code I'll just call it a "Floral Shop." Or since pretty much all of our product gets planted into the ground I could call it "Agricultural Products."
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Are these codes shown on our credit card statements so we can monitor this?

Generally no. They are used by the processors and banks on back end systems.

Decent credit cards provide a spending breakdown by category on their websites when you log in.

Better ones provided the info on a year end summary statement.

In the above image, "Merchandise" is largely Costco and Aldi spending, which is mostly groceries. But the card company just knows it's from Costco, which isn't coded as groceries, and Aldi, which I would have thought was coded as groceries, but apparently isn't.

On the website, you can drill down into the category to see your specific spending there.

That's if I'm too lazy to withdraw cash from the bank in the first place! I'm sure I'm missing something like the cost to get a cash advance, but like I started, if push comes to shove. In reality, cash is king.
Another guy that's going to send cash to online vendors?

i guess the idea is that many people would need to pull the cash from the bank. im glad it didnt go anywhere but its crazy that they even had the idea that people wouldnt fight it.
So at least for now I can build up my arsenal of holsters without added scrutiny.

I've probably had at least 50 credit cards over the course of my life. I've never, not once, been asked to send a copy of my drivers license to any other card issuer.
That does seem unusual. Yeah, I'd never do that. Normally you just have to provide your SSN. Much safer...

The only time I've been asked for my DL online was by PayPal when I got scammed. Used Discover, who credited me, but PP locked my account unless I provided a copy of my DL and a copy of my most recent Discover statement. So I told them to just close the account. 'We can't do that because we need your DL and Discover statement for identity verification.' So it's out there in the nether regions unable to send, receive, fund, or withdraw.

    True. Discover does that.

I think Apple Card does it best, as I don't even have to log into a website. It's right on my phone.

It will also show you on a map where a transaction occurred.
