Shooting bottles and bricks outdoors
Hello. There are YouTube videos of outdoor shooting of watermelons and woodblocks. I was wondering if there is a place in PA forests where you can legally do that?

Yes on your own private property.

I'm sure you'd have to check city ordinances to see if/when target shooting is allowed.

Exactly what are you asking? The tread title says 'bottles and bricks' but the post says 'watermelons and wood blocks'. Such antics invoke a strong urge for me to be an asshole about it.

I am opposed to broken bottles and bricks in the forest.

Re: Shooting bottles and bricks outdoors
There is no place in PA where you are allowed to indiscriminately plink at ANYTHING on public lands. There are some public shooting ranges on PA State Game Lands, but shooting there is limited to approved targets, and the shooter must have a PA hunting license, a PA SGL Range Permit, or be a guest of someone who has one.
Now, having said that, shooting watermelons and wood are safe. I don't even have an issue with shooting bottles, if on private property. But, the idea of shooting bricks, IMHO, is a dumb idea, with lots of potential for throwing ricochets in unwanted directions.
ETA: If you want to shlot a reactive target, get safe rubber or steel plate reactive targets, that won't defle t bullets in irresponsible ways. And, even then, reactive targets aren't approved for use on SGL ranges.Sed ego sum homo indomitus
